The Payoff (cont'd) | ||
If you overeat here and there, the exercise will probably take care of those extra calories. If you miss the occasional exercise session, the sensible eating will maintain the physique. And the optimal HGH and antioxidant levels will continue with the physiological maintenance when diet or exercise are interrupted, as may happen during a vacation or illness. So if any aspect of the program becomes interrupted briefly, it's not like falling off the wagon. You simply resume it from where you left off. Because you are in it for the long haul.
And that's the payoff: you are in it for the long haul: The average life expectancy for Americans is approaching 80 years of age. This includes those who smoke, do drugs; who go for the fattiest of pork chops and eat two or three of them at a sitting; who are extremely sedentary, drink large quantities of alcohol, coffee, and soft drinks, and in general just don't take care of themselves. If people with these lifestyles are included in the total population, and this total population still has an average life expectancy of about 76 years or better, then we do not think it unreasonable to conclude that, on average, those following a program such as we have described, will make it to 100 or 120 years of age, and exercising under their own steam. | ||
