High Octane Antioxidants

There are a number of substances that have demonstrated antioxidant properties that are especially strong.
These are the "high octane" antioxidants.

Just as a high octane fuel keeps a car engine running cleaner and more smoothly,
so too these "high octane" antioxidants keep the body running cleaner and more smoothly.
The antioxidants we will look at are the best at neutralizing free radicals.

In some cases, the antioxidant will neutralize them directly, while the free radicals are engaged in their vandalism.
In other cases, the antioxidant will do its work by inhibiting the free radicals even before they get started.

Where an antioxidant reacts with a free radical directly, it is often instrumental in halting the ensuing chain reaction, in which more and still more free radicals would have been created.
