Antioxidants (cont'd)

The obvious solution to the problem of free radicals is to reduce them wherever and however we can.

We can try to spend time where the air is clean,
not on a street with miles of cars belching exhaust.

We can alter our daily routine to include more exercise.

We can limit our exposure to the sun.

We can work on managing stress.

We can improve our diets.

We can cut out smoking.

Most importantly, we can increase the levels of antioxidants in our bodies.
This is especially important for glutathione, superoxide dismutase and catalase as free radical quenchers.

Increasing our intake of antioxidants is especially crucial in cases where other factors conducive to free radical formation are not reduced or eliminated. For instance, if we cannot escape the pollution around us, or have not quit smoking, then it is that much more important to increase our intake of antioxidants.
