Other Studies and Experiments (cont'd)

Given that HGH replacement therapy has demonstrated a significant effectiveness in ameliorating many of the aging-like effects induced by pituitary removal, it is not surprising that experimenters like Dr. Rudman should find it effective as an anti-aging agent.

One thing we should bear in mind about the studies on both pituitary removal and aging, is that these are real, live, flesh-and-blood people behind all the graphs and statistics. And with all the positive results accruing to the HGH studies now ongoing, that it is real, live people - not lifeless numbers and statistics - who are being helped.

By way of illustration: One such person in Dr. Bengtsson's care, a young man around the age of twenty, first came to the hospital in a very lethargic state. He had, for most of his life, been a loner, overweight and miserable, and had previously spent his days in idle depression. He came to the hospital with the specific intention of being certified for a disability pension. It was determined that HGH therapy might improve his condition and he agreed to undergo treatment.

The transformation that resulted was striking. The young man lost flab and trimmed down, acquired a newfound energy and enthusiasm for life - and a girlfriend as well. The change was so complete that when he offered his photo ID to a sales clerk at a liquor store, bearing a picture of his former self, the clerk refused to accept it. She could not believe that it was a photo of the same man standing before her.

Such is the case for all the numbers and statistics presented here in this book. Although the use of numbers, graphs, and statistics allows a greater scientific perception of what is happening in certain situations, establishing causal relationships and the like, we must never forget that these numbers represent real people. And as is becoming more and more apparent in the case of HGH replacement therapy, it is real people whose lives are being revitalized and transformed in a way previously thought impossible.
