Future Hormones (page 3/3)
This is analogous to a receptor being present for Valium which initially had no known human made substance to fill this receptor. If that turns out to be the case, then perhaps this hormone can be manipulated to keep HGH levels in the optimal range as we age, preventing the decline they normally show in our thirties and forties. Were that to come about we would have yet another arrow in the quiver. Another question that future research will likely focus on: Is there an HGH resistance that affects us with age analogous to a type of insulin resistance? Maybe as we keep the IGF-1 levels elevated, we may experience some of this as a Somapause Type 2, different from a primary or HGH deficient Somapause Type 1 that we all face with aging. What we have seen here is but a sampling of the wide ranging research going on in the field of hormones. Almost certainly new discoveries in the field will continue to expand the human life span, and it is not unlikely that there will be some huge breakthroughs as well.
