Section IV
Other Hormones
Optimal Levels, Working in Harmony

There are many other hormones in the body besides HGH. And although the scope of the function of most is usually quite narrow when compared to that of HGH, each of them does play an important and necessary part in the overall health of the body.

Just as tradesmen such as plumbers or electricians play a specific but necessary role in the maintenance of a large building, so too it is for the roles played by hormones such as estrogen or testosterone. All of these hormones play their own particular and necessary role in maintaining the entire body in good health.

We saw earlier that the levels of HGH in the body tend to decline with age. This is also the case for many other hormones in the body. They, too, tend to decline with age.

To keep the body healthy and fit, it is desirable to have all the hormones working at optimal levels. That allows them to carry on their work in harmony with one another. If one hormone is working at a low level, it can interfere with the performance of others.

In our analogy of the tradesmen doing building maintenance, we can readily see that if the plumbers are short in manpower and have to rush their work they, will likely do shoddy work. And in rushing, if they have left pipes in place that are leaking water onto the electrical wires, this will interfere with work the electricians are doing. To say the least.
