Section III
HGH: The Master Hormone
Secretogogues

A secretogogue is a substance, chemical, or nutrient which will by its nature encourage a gland to release a hormone. The consequences of achieving this with HGH, of course, are raised levels of HGH in the body.

As we go into middle age and beyond, the pituitary does not stop producing HGH, it just releases less of it into the bloodstream. A particular style of secretogogue can trigger the release of HGH, and in this way is able to bring about higher HGH levels than were occurring previously.

What this means is that, for a forty year old, whose HGH levels have been on the decrease for about twenty years, a secretogogue can raise the concentration of HGH in the bloodstream to a more youthful level. In turn, this affords the possibility of halting much of the aging process, and possibly even reversing some of it.

Because secretogogues bring about the release of HGH from the body's own pituitary, at the body's own rate, the levels of HGH remain subject to governance by the hypothalamus and its feedback loop. Consequently, there is little or no possibility of artificially raising the serum levels of HGH to anything above normal, and consequently again, there is little or no possibility of bringing on serious side effects.

Another advantage to using secretogogues to achieve elevated HGH levels is that the cost of secretogogues is a fraction of that of injections.

Also, there are no needles involved, and secretogogues can be taken at home without a medical presence on hand. Finally, because secretogogues are so safe, there is little monitoring required.

In short, secretogogues are presently the safest, handiest, simplest, and most cost effective means of elevating HGH levels in the body.
