Two Personal Histories (cont'd)
The second personal history is that of neuroendocrinologist and professor of neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee,
Dr. Leon Cass Terry. His story bears some resemblance to Dr. Chein's. One difference was that for all of his 55 years of age, Dr. Terry had kept in fairly good condition.
But, as he says: Dr. Terry had been a friend and colleague of Dr. Rudman and the two had begun a pilot project on IGF-1 and neurological disorders. The project, unhappily, was cut short by Dr. Rudman's untimely death. Dr. Terry was, however, eminently aware of the work taking place to combat aging.
When he heard from a friend, who had been a former world class weightlifter, that he was receiving treatment from Dr. Chein, Dr. Terry embarked on a similar course.
In less than two months, under Dr. Chein's care, he was achieving extremely good results with HGH replacement therapy.
As he states, with an almost palpable exuberance: From 1995 through 1996, Dr. Chein and Dr. Terry were in fruitful collaboration. During that time, working with hundreds of patients at the Palm Springs Life Extension Institute, they amassed a mountain of data. All of it good.
